American Culture

I said I chose American culture,  it is really a very good choice, for both the instructor and the class are so good for me. The teacher’s name is Celeste Innocenti, don’t feel strange for it’s an Italian name. she is active, charming and good at teaching.

The thing she made us happy is, we don’t need to buy any books, Celeste will give us many handouts and have we us some today. You know books are so expensive in America that most of my colleagues are hesitate to buy one.

She said in the objectives that, this course will examine various aspects of America culture, looking at the united states from various perspectives: social, geographical, political, historical, and cultural, students will research and discuss the attitudes, habits and lifestyles of American people, and will learn about the diversity and complexity of culture in the U.S.A. through readings, videos, music, and guest speakers.

We will have to examinations, one midterm and one final.

The classmates are from many countries, including Greece, Japan, Korea, China, Brazil, and some European countries. Most of them are so young that they are under 21, but that don’t mean their English is bad, most of them are very good at English.

Celeste gave us some homework about American culture as quiz. It’s hard to find the words in dictionary, for they are so modern but popular and useful. Such as Wyatt Earp, root beer float, teepee, Rose Bowl, Mardi Gras, spelling bee, RV, boardwalk, hick etc.
