I've heard of Las Vegas when I was in middle school, and a classmate who has been there told me it is a place worth visiting. But as far as I know, Las Vegas is a place famous for casinos and gambling, so I decided never go there because I don't have any interest in gambling, and what's more, I don't want to spend money on anywhere I don't like. Then somebody told me it is not only the casinos but also the natural sceneries that are attractive, for Las Vegas is located in the center of a desert. Those made me hesitated because I had been in Xinjiang and want to know the differences between the two deserts. Another reason I joined the group is we also go to the Grand Canyon, which is so great in my imagination.

     From the guide I know what exactly Las Vegas means----oasis in the desert. The pilgrims found it because it is the basin of the whole desert so it must has water. By the way, I have a habit of asking the local people what on earth the new places' names mean.

We six took Metrolink train to Las Angelis Union Station to join the organized tour group, for it is the cheapest one, and easily found the hotel we reserved on the web, it happened to be in China Town and has a traditional name the Best Western Dragon Inn. To make sure that we could find the Seagull Holliday tour bus we found the location where the guide told us the night we arrived LA, and got up so early the next morning to catch the bus that we missed the free breakfast the hotel offered an hour and a half later.

     It was such a long way to go, soon we saw desert, more exactly is should not be translated into 沙漠 but 戈壁for there is no quicksand and there is so much saltgrass in it, but anyhow in English desert means both. In the afternoon we arrived to London Bridge which was transported originally and completely from London, the expense is so high needless to say, and the architect is same as the famous Blue Bridge--Waterloo Bridge, it is such a magnificent miracle which made here a great attraction, and I learnt that the bridge is special because of another reason, that is the bridge was built first and then river were dig under it.
