    美国获得多项突破性进展,重大成果迭出。利用活细胞成功使死心脏恢复跳动,创造世界最大人工合成DNA,首次直接将一种体细胞转变成另一种体细胞,提出细胞统一分子观,造出“假”病毒管住真病毒,培植出红血球细胞等。

    2008年1月伊始,美国生物学家就获得两项重大突破:通过给“脱细胞化”处理后的动物尸体心脏注入活细胞,成功使死心脏恢复跳动;通过合成生殖支原体细菌JCVI-1.0中的58.297万个碱基对,成功制造出该细菌的完整基因组,创造了世界最大人工合成DNA组织。

    1月取得的其他重要生物研究成就包括:

    培育出变异炭疽热毒素,能更有效杀灭黑色素瘤,也能抗击结肠癌和肺癌等其他癌症。

    发现感染禽类和感染人类的病毒之间的关键性差异———受体形状,流感病毒必须与伞形受体结合才能感染人类。这有助于监视禽流感毒株的进化,开发流感疫苗。

    利用RNA干扰技术识别出与艾滋病感染密切相关的273个基因,制定出相关的蛋白质列表,可据此预测艾滋病病毒繁殖所需的特殊蛋白质,开发与这种蛋白质进行相互作用的新药物。

    在人类细胞表面确定蛋白质分子teth鄄erin,可将艾滋病病毒颗粒附着在母细胞的外膜上,阻止病毒突变株扩散。该发现有望为病毒学研究开启全新领域,为未来的药物研究铺平道路。

    成功地在不伤害人类胚胎情况下获取胚胎干细胞,可回避相关的伦理争议,有望加速胚胎干细胞的临床医疗研究。

    采用体细胞核移植技术,用捐献卵子及男性皮肤细胞成功克隆出5个人体胚胎,这一突破将使制造患者匹配型干细胞成为可能。

    将控制破伤风毒素合成的基因植入实验鼠神经细胞,通过调节毒素活动,开发出可自由开关实验鼠脑神经回路的技术。这将成为探究大脑记忆和学习能力的重要研究手段。

    4月,美国斯坦福大学揭示了不同物种的胎盘进化渊源,再现了形成和调控胚胎的基因进化史,表明胎盘基因不断进化调整自身,形成物种特异性基因,以适应老鼠、大象、人类等各个物种的不同繁殖需要。这是全球首次关注胚胎中的基因表达,填补了一个被忽略领域的空白。

    中美科学家联手发布番木瓜的首张基因组草图,这将为研究开花植物的进化提供新信息。

    英国Oxitec生物技术公司对“昆虫不育技术”加以改进,培育出需要四环素才能维持寿命的转基因雄蚊,其后代也含有致命基因。利用这项技术可将蚊子繁育的后代预先设定成突发性早亡,从而控制登革热的蔓延。

    巴西证明蛋白质可以决定记忆在大脑中持续时间的长短,运用基因技术降低血吸虫病害,干细胞研究获得国家法律更大支持。

    2008年2月,巴西科学家与阿根廷同行合作,在对老鼠投喂了超剂量的蛋白质脑源性神经营养因子后发现,老鼠记忆力从7倍提高到10倍,证明蛋白质可以决定记忆在大脑中持续时间的长短。
