Xinhua Tokyo, February 11 (Xinhua Qian Zheng), a Japanese study showed that when people suffering from periodontitis, the periodontal pathogens have generated acid may activate latent HIV to AIDS.

According to Japan's "Daily News" reported on the 11th, the Japanese University professor B. K. Ochiai and Nagoya City University, Professor Okamoto, who is still carried out related research. Prior research has shown that hidden in the immune cells in the proliferation of HIV in a so-called histone deacetylase effects of the material was inhibited, once the role of this enzyme have been hampered, the virus becomes active, by incidence of infection will be. On the other hand, the proliferation of periodontal pathogens in the process of manufacturing large quantities of butyric acid, testing showed that patients with periodontitis teeth and gums in the gap between the content of butyric acid is a healthy person 20 times to 30 times.

     B. K. Ochiai and others studied the acid and histone deacetylase interaction. They have latent HIV immune cells Add periodontitis pathogenic bacteria containing acid culture medium, the results confirmed the rapid proliferation of HIV. Because of this, the researchers confirmed that butyrate can inhibit histone deacetylase, and because a large number of generated acid periodontitis can indeed take the activation of latent HIV.

It is reported that more than 25 years of age in more than 80% of Japanese suffer from varying degrees of periodontitis, while Japan also has a lot of people living with HIV. Professor B. K. Ochiai said that those who are not aware of their HIV infection, and may be suffering from periodontitis and incidence. The researchers next plan to animal experiments and epidemiological investigations to confirm this.

Had reported that periodontitis and diabetes and heart disease-related, and the results of this study showed that periodontitis may also activate latent HIV. Experts here said that the results will become a new awareness of the importance of maintaining oral hygiene opportunities.
