葛兰素史克承诺低价药救穷人

    英国制药业巨头葛兰素史克公司首席执行官安德鲁·威蒂１３日承诺，公司将以低价向一些发展中国家提供药品，并同公司以外研究人员分享专利制药知识。

    英国《卫报》网站当天援引威蒂的话报道，作为世界第二大制药企业，葛兰素史克将仅以英、美市场价格２５％或更低的售价向世界５０个最不发达国家供应药品。

    威蒂说，葛兰素史克还将同外部研究人员分享它享有专利权的制药程序和成分，同时将把公司在发展中国家盈利额的２０％再投资于当地医院和诊所。

    由于艾滋病等疾病在一些不发达地区泛滥，不少人对大制药公司提出严厉批评，指责它们一味追求高利润，不肯放弃专利权，致使药价居高不下。

    威蒂说，新决定彰显公司战略在发达国家和发展中国家间的平衡性，相信会得到“公司股东的理解”。他认为制药企业有义务帮助穷困患者获得医治，呼吁其他大型制药企业加入这一步伐，以共同为发展中国家民众健康状况带来显著改观。（新华社专电）

     British pharmaceutical giant GlaxoSmithKline CEO Andrew Witty on the 13th commitment, the company will provide low-cost drugs to a number of developing countries, and with outside researchers to share knowledge of pharmaceutical patents.
