HIV-TB dual infection in the world's 1.4 million people
World Health Organization recently released annual report pointed out that even though the global incidence of TB is declining slowly, but AIDS patients with tuberculosis complicated by the number of experts is expected to double. However, this increase is because the disease has been discovered and reported to work to improve not reflect the actual number of infected persons have such a large increase.
AIDS, TB dual infection in the individual and public health hazards are great. Of individuals, AIDS will accelerate the progress of TB disease; the public, tuberculosis (in particular, did not receive the appropriate treatment of tuberculosis caused by drug-resistant) for each person is a threat to health. AIDS, TB is the leading cause of death of patients. Each year, about two million died of AIDS patients, of which 1 / 4 died of tuberculosis.
2007 is the latest data. It was announced that the year 2007 has 9.27 million new tuberculosis hair people, half of which occurred in India, China, Indonesia, Nigeria and South Africa in this country 5. Only about 2 / 3 of patients have been diagnosed. In 2006, the World Health Organization epidemiologists all over the world to estimate the AIDS-TB co-infection has 700,000 patients, while in 2007 the estimate rose to 1.4 million.
