HIV-infected persons, AIDS patients and AIDS patients What's the difference?
HIV-infected persons infected with HIV, the immune function of damage is not serious, there is no opportunistic infections occurred in persons. That the body is infected with HIV, the incidence did not immediately, ongoing virus replication in vivo, the slow destruction of the body's immune system, destroying the body's immune function, the immune function has not been seriously damaged the case (generally refers to CD4 + T lymphocytes ≥ 200/mm3), no severe diarrhea, herpes and sustained weight loss, fever and other signs of clinical symptoms of AIDS, it is known as HIV-infected persons. Some HIV-infected persons into the body in about 2 ~ 4 weeks, the emergence of HIV viremia and immune system damage produced by acute symptoms such as fever, sweating, pharyngodynia, diarrhea, rash and swollen lymph nodes and so on, the majority of infected clinical symptoms were mild, continuous 1 ~ 3 weeks after the remission, but these symptoms are often mistaken for the common cold or some of the symptoms of common diseases, it will not cause people's attention, when infected and healthy looking from the outside there is not much difference.
AIDS refers to the body after HIV infection, with the gradual loss of immune function, the body give rise to various opportunistic infections or malignant tumors in patients infected with HIV for the final stage, the majority of 2 to 3 years or so will die. When HIV-infected persons and causing serious damage to the immune system, especially CD4 + T lymphocytes decreased to below 200/mm3, the variety of bacteria, viruses, protozoa and other pathogenic microorganisms can take advantage of a number of normal non-pathogenic bacteria, viruses, but also because of lower immune function of HIV patients with a variety of diseases, is often said of the opportunistic infections, such as a severe herpes, diarrhea, pneumonia, oral strains studied disease, malignant syndrome, and so on. At this time, infected with AIDS has become a.
From a medical point of view that AIDS patients and AIDS patients with no clear demarcation. In the field of news reporting, the use of "AIDS patients" had AIDS and was limited to places in the medical treatment of people, the majority of cases, AIDS patients who did not serve as a role.
HIV-infected immune function from the extent of the damage and areas such as clinical signs and symptoms in patients with AIDS than to light, but are infectious, the concealed as a result of infection, and often more dangerous than AIDS. The world how many people infected with HIV?
According to UNAIDS and the World Health Organization, "AIDS Epidemic Update report," Global 2006, the number of HIV-infected 39.5 million people, Sub-Saharan Africa reached 24.7 million people, South Asia and 780 million people in Southeast Asia, East Asia 75 million people; in 2006 HIV-infected persons add 4.3 million people, of which Sub-Saharan Africa 2.8 million people, 100,000 people in East Asia; 2.9 million AIDS deaths were in sub-Saharan Africa 210 million people, 43,000 in East Asia for people.
Every 8 seconds a person infected with HIV, 8000 people die of AIDS every day. Sub-Saharan Africa, still a high-infection areas, such as Swaziland, the infection rate of pregnant women increased by 10 times 10 years, pregnant women in 2002 has reached 39 percent infection rate is really unthinkable, which almost destroyed a nation. Botswana from 25 to 29-year-old pregnant women reached 55.6% infection rate, adult infection rate was 40%, it is shocking figure. UNAIDS believes that the second shock wave of high infection mainly in Indonesia, India, Nigeria, Russia, China, of which Asia accounted for half of the country 3. Therefore, as early as 2000, UNAIDS director Peter Piot said: "In this new century, I think that there is no development of more problems than it (AIDS) more pressing need to make a collective response of the international community, This is a global problem, it is not Africa or Asia, it is a global problem. "
Just the outgoing United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan in December 1, 2006 World AIDS Day speech, said: "25 years ago, the first case of AIDS reported to the world, since that time, AIDS changed the world. It has so that 25 million people were killed and more than 4000 million people infected. It has become the world's 15-59 year-old number one killer of men and women. It makes the history of human development has suffered the biggest downturn. In other words, it has become our generation facing the most serious challenges. "
