Vuvuzela, you national hero!

 

 

南非国家足球队主教练、巴西人佩雷拉（Parreira）说，足球城体育场是他所见过的最令人生畏的体育场之一。想象一下，90000只呜呜祖啦（vuvuzel）一起在那里吹响的时刻。佩雷拉把呜呜祖啦称为“南非的第十二名球员”。

虽然呜呜祖啦没有发挥佩雷拉预期的作用——南非队小组赛便遭到淘汰，成为世界杯史上第一支未能晋级淘汰赛的东道主队，但所有亲临过本届世界杯赛场的观众，都对这只长长的塑料喇叭印象深刻。它在南非球赛中的地位仿佛巴西的桑巴鼓，虽然其噪音水平要高得多。

对于南非人来说，他们带着骄傲在吹响呜呜祖啦。它尖利的声音仿佛在宣告，南非已从令人羞辱的种族隔离制度中走出来，正式返回了文明国家社区。1998年和2002年南非国家队的两任队长Lucas Radebe说：“这是我们的文化，我们用呜呜祖啦创造我们的民族节奏和舞蹈。”

然而，对一些队员和教练以及电视广播者来说，呜呜祖啦意味着一种巨大的噪音，应该在世界杯的10座体育场里全面禁用。的确，身处这些体育馆之中，你会觉得自己是在一个大蜂箱里。用蜜蜂的鸣叫形容呜呜祖啦的声音还算是好的；有人认为它像鸭子叫，像摩托车的突突声，像大象吼，约堡The Sunday Times前编辑  Mondli Makhanya在一篇专栏中更把它形容为“走向屠宰场的山羊的悲鸣”。

事实上，我认为呜呜祖啦很酷。（顺便说一句，好像这种喇叭都是中国制造的。）看世界杯何为？难道不就是为了感受和体验其他民族的文化吗？

在The Sunday Times读到Mzwakhe Mbuli的一首诗“Vuvuzela, you national hero!”，我非常喜欢，抄录如下：

That the enemy couldn’t understand.

Vuvuzela, you are a hero.

like a goat at the slaughterhouse

Parreira was right,

Vuvuzela, you are a hero.

and they thought it was

Parreira was right,

Vuvuzela, you are a hero, a hero, a hero.
