这不是一组普通的艾滋病人的照片。这三十多张面孔，来自不同国家，他们或幼龄或成年，或贫穷或富有，或草民或著名，有人被抛弃，有人被拥簇，而无一例外，他们都是艾滋病患者。这是相同艾滋病下的差异人生，贫富、地位、国家、职业、性向……造就歧视的，不是名为“艾滋”的病，而是其所处的种种环境。

28岁的MaoSamnag是一名妓女，她住在柬埔寨首都金边的“艾滋病隔离区”中。这个“艾滋病隔离区”由柬埔寨政府搭建，已有数十个感染艾滋病的家庭被赶入这里生活，以杜绝传染他人。这里条件简陋，生活和医疗设施严重缺乏，引起国际社会的密切关注。
2010年11月30日，40余名河南艾滋病患者、感染者来到北京，与媒体见面，表达改善自身生活现状的诉求。这些患者曾到相关部门寻求解决因输血感染艾滋病后带来的一系列生活和就医问题。他们希望在国际艾滋病日这天得到更多关注。一位患者家属说“如果这一天不能让更多的人了解到我们的处境，其他的日子就更难了。”
2009年12月1日，一名带着口罩的抗议者在一场因输血致艾的抗议活动中痛哭，她的口罩上写着“血制品让我染上艾滋病”。中国民间抗艾第一人曾表示：当下中国，由于卖血输血产生的血液传播，仍然是艾滋病的主要问题。而这些都源于贫穷及医疗保障不健全。
