世界银行艾滋病项目主任威尔逊19日在英国伦敦表示，中国应该继续重视毒品问题，通过适当的资金投入，保证艾滋病防治效果。
威尔逊说，中国一些边境省区存在一定数量的吸毒人群和艾滋病患者，而中国政府近年来不断采取措施，帮助他们戒毒并重返社会，并且实施了防治艾滋病计划。这种做法应该坚持下去。
“我认为中国可借鉴的应该是继续实施并加强这些重要的计划，因为这能够极大地节省中国将来的健康医疗成本，包括艾滋病的治疗，其他与血液有关的疾病治疗。这将使中国更有效地让吸毒人员融入社会。所以我建议中国继续在有效打击毒品政策和计划方面进行投资。”
威尔逊表示，世界银行与中国在包括艾滋病防治在内的卫生医疗领域的合作一直卓有成效，并且在相关领域共同展开研究，取得了很大成果。
