2011年5月15日－18日，在瑞士日内瓦出席第64届世界卫生大会期间，中国代表团团长、卫生部部长陈竺先后会见塞浦路斯、美国、新加坡、日本、尼泊尔、马来西亚、印度尼西亚、莫桑比克、巴巴多斯、东帝汶等国卫生部长，以及世界卫生组织（WHO）、联合国艾滋病规划署（UNAIDS）、全球抗击艾滋病、结核病和疟疾基金、国际医学科学院（IAMP）等国际组织负责人，以及美琳达－比尔·盖茨基金会共同主席等。
陈竺祝贺塞浦路斯卫生部部长帕斯哈里蒂斯（Christos Patsalides）当选本届世界卫生大会主席，表示希望愿意在两国公共卫生和医学科学领域合作协定的框架下，开展卫生政策、地中海贫血防治等方面的合作。
在与美国卫生部部长西贝利耶斯（Kathleen Sebelius）会谈中，陈竺表示，慢性非传染病已列入国际社会重要议程，中国慢性病防控任重道远，将进一步采取措施，重视预防和多部门参与。双方一致赞同，将加强两国在控烟、糖尿病防治等慢性病防控领域的合作，共同应对慢性病的挑战。
在与新加坡卫生部部长许文远会谈中，陈竺表示，两国加强在卫生健康领域的交流与合作符合双方利益，中方愿与新方加强在包括卫生改革、中医药等在内的卫生合作，相互学习借鉴成功经验，互利共赢，促进共同发展。
陈竺向日本厚生省高级副大臣大塚耕平（Kohei Otsuka）对日本近期遭受到地震和海啸灾害表示同情和慰问，希望加强两国之间在放射卫生安全、慢性病防控方面的合作。日方表示，中国地震灾后重建经验值得学习。
在与马来西亚卫生部部长廖中莱（Liow Tiong Lai）会谈中，陈竺表示，中方高度重视与马方关于共同建立传统医药合作中心的建议，这有利于促进双方传统医药教学和人才培训能力的提高。
陈竺对尼泊尔卫生部部长巴斯耐特（Shakti Bahadur Basnet）表示，中方愿意在援外医疗队的基础上，进一步加强双边卫生合作，推动中尼卫生合作深入发展。
在与印度尼西亚卫生部部长恩当女士（Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih）会谈中，陈竺表示，印尼是中国的好邻居、好伙伴、好朋友。两国卫生部交往势头良好，愿深化两国卫生合作。双方同意，将尽快续签两国卫生合作谅解备忘录。
在与莫桑比克卫生部部长曼古勒博士（Manguele）会谈时，陈竺部长感谢莫政府对中国医疗队的支持。他表示，中国愿意参与当地医疗教育，并派遣公共卫生领域专家短期赴莫，努力提高当地公共卫生水平。
陈竺在会见巴巴多斯卫生部长恩内斯（D.Inniss）时表示，希望能与巴等加勒比共同体国家开展卫生领域合作，相互学习和借鉴卫生发展政策和经验。
陈竺向东帝汶卫生部副部长苏亚雷斯女士（Hanjam Soares）表示，中方愿意派遣医疗队之外，积极考虑通过来华进修及派遣专家赴东短期工作等形式，探讨新的合作领域。苏亚雷斯感谢中方派遣的援外医疗队做出的杰出贡献。
陈竺会见了世界卫生组织总干事陈冯富珍，就中国深化医改进展和评估、慢性病防控和全球卫生发展等交换了意见。他感谢世卫组织秘书处在全球卫生发展议程中发挥越来越重要的领导和协调作用。
陈竺与联合国艾滋病规划署执行主任西迪贝（Michel Sidibe）就中国艾滋病防控进行了会谈。双方赞同，将在艾滋病治疗和药物可及性方面进一步合作。
