潘基文呼吁国际社会争取在2020年消灭艾滋病

中新网6月9日电 综合报道,联合国艾滋病问题高级别会议6月8日在联合国纽约总部拉开帷幕,来自政府和民间组织的代表齐聚联大会堂,审议全球抗击艾滋病的进度,并对未来5年的应对工作作出规划。联合国秘书长潘基文在会上呼吁国际社会采取具体行动,争取于2020年消灭艾滋病。
据报道,潘基文在会议开幕时发表讲话,高度赞扬了前任秘书长安南在领导全球抗击艾滋病方面所做出的卓越贡献。他呼吁国际社会利用此次会议的历史契机,采取具体行动,以实现一个无艾滋病的世界。
潘基文指出,自30年前人类发现艾滋病以来,国际社会在抗击艾滋方面取得了可喜的成绩,在全球受艾滋病影响最大的一些国家,感染艾滋病毒的比率减少了四分之一,全球600万人能够得到治疗服务。
潘基文强调,自2001年以来,新的艾滋病感染个案已下降20%。他表示,当前的目标是在2020年消灭这种疾病。
联合国称,目前全球有3400万人感染了艾滋病,但其中有半数人并不知道自己染病。
潘基文指出,本次高级别的会议将促使国际社会采取行动,所有合作方应团结一致,以在2015年前普及艾滋病预防、治疗和关爱服务;国际社会还应该利用青年以及新通信技术的力量,开展一次预防艾滋的革命,以在全球实现无新发艾滋病毒感染、无歧视和无艾滋病导致的死亡的目标。
包括30多位国家元首和政府首脑等在内的各国政府官员以及民间组织和艾滋病毒感染者代表参加了此次为期3天的高级别会议。 预计会议将通过一份对未来5年全球抗艾工作具有指导性的宣言。

Ban Ki-moon called on the international community towards the eradication of AIDS in 2020

At the meeting, UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon called on the international community to take concrete action towards eradication of AIDS in 2020.
It was reported that Ban Ki-moon delivered a speech at the opening of the meeting, former Secretary-General Kofi Annan praised the leadership of the global fight against AIDS in terms of their outstanding contributions. He called on the international community to use the conference historic opportunity, to take concrete actions to achieve a world without AIDS.
Ban Ki-moon pointed out that since the discovery of AIDS 30 years ago, human beings, the international community in the fight against AIDS has made gratifying achievements in the world most affected by AIDS in some countries to reduce HIV infection rates by a quarter, the global 6000000 people can get treatment.
Ban Ki-moon stressed that since 2001, new HIV infection cases have dropped 20%. He said the current goal is to eliminate the disease in 2020.
The United Nations said that 3,400 million people worldwide currently infected with HIV, but half of infected people do not know.
Ban Ki-moon noted that this high-level meeting will be prompted the international community to take action, all partners should be united, universal access by 2015 to HIV prevention, treatment and care services; international community should take advantage of youth and the power of new communications technologies to carry out a revolution in HIV prevention to the world free of new HIV infections, non-discriminatory and non-AIDS deaths goals.
Including 30 heads of state and government leaders, etc., as well as civil organizations, government officials and representatives of people living with HIV attended the 3-day high-level meeting. The meeting is expected to adopt a 5-year future work of the global anti-AIDS guiding declaration.
