一名个头不到1.6米的柔弱女子，每天与一群身患艾滋病的女犯人“零距离”接触。
13年来，黄晓焰一直是看管艾滋病女犯的狱警，身边同一批来的狱警差不多换完一轮，而她仍坚守在这个特殊的岗位上。
也曾害怕但必须面对
上午9点，黄晓焰走进带有消毒水味的办公室，和同事交接班，了解病犯情况，清点人数，检查卫生，发药，陪病犯运动……一天的工作就开始了。
而这种忙碌，一直要持续到晚上10点。黄晓焰看管的犯人，全部是艾滋病患者或病毒携带者。
黄晓焰最初看管艾滋病犯，是在1999年。当时，社会上对艾滋病了解少，听说要分一批民警专门看管艾滋病犯，大家都有点害怕。“这个工作总得有人干，那就让我来吧。”面对这个特殊的岗位，黄晓焰没有推辞，“其实我当时也很怕，但我必须面对。”
黄晓焰印象最深的是，2003年夏天，两名女病犯因言语不和打架，一人拿铲子，一人拿扫帚，不停对打。包括黄晓焰在内的几名狱警来不及多想，冲上前一把将病犯按住。
事后，大家才想起自己制服病犯时穿的是短袖，万一被病犯抓破一点皮，后果不堪设想。黄晓焰惊出一身冷汗，仔细检查，身上没有伤口，才放下心。
例行体检等结果最纠结
多年工作，黄晓焰逐渐积累了很多专业知识，成了病犯和新来狱警的“知心大姐”。
“艾滋病的传染途径非常有限，母婴传播、体液传播和性传播，只要注意预防就很安全……”昨日，黄晓焰正开导一名新狱警，这名新人在监狱里被蚊子叮了一口，很担心会因此感染艾滋病。黄晓焰告诉她，蚊子咬人只吸血，不吐血，即便吸入了艾滋病人的血，再去叮咬正常人，也不会因此而感染艾滋病。
每年两次的例行体检，是黄晓焰最纠结的时刻。体检报告出来前，心里总出现各种担忧。等到报告出来，看到“一切正常”的字样，大家这才会松一口气。
带病犯运动是最大欣慰
13年来，黄晓焰一共看管过数百艾滋病犯，病犯不停轮换。
黄晓焰说，很多病犯觉得自己被判了“死缓”，生命比刑期还短，心情变得烦
躁，内心敏感。为了调整病犯不好的心情，黄晓焰还带领病犯开展户外运动，跳绳、打羽毛球，还组织体育比赛。
刚开始，病犯有抵触情绪，“命都快没了，还运动什么？”黄晓焰就一次次给她们做思想工作。渐渐地，病犯把她当成值得信赖的人，也愿意跟她一起做体育锻炼了。
每当这个时候，黄晓焰总是觉得很欣慰：“看着服刑人员能出来运动，我觉得是最大的欣慰，一个喜欢运动的人，才是身心健康的最好体现。”
和老公散步是最大幸福
由于工作原因，黄晓焰很少有时间陪孩子玩，也难得休闲。她平时也没什么爱好，闲下来喜欢在家做家务，看电视，唯一喜欢的运动项目是打乒乓球。
1998年，黄晓焰的丈夫因车祸去世。2007年，黄晓焰认识了现在的老公，她说，最大的幸福，就是吃完饭后，和老公一起散步。
同事们这样评价黄晓焰：她是个朴实的人，在这个特殊的岗位上，从没想过要干多大的事业表功。她的想法很简单，就是“既然做了这个事，那就要做好。”
