Preface
This is an interesting series of poems for which the author is to be congratulated. The poems are highly personal reflections, touching as they do on themes of human isolation, father-daughter relations, marriage, and the inter-relationships between humans and nature.
Ren Xiping has managed to write some highly engaging poems in a language which is not his own, which is in itself remarkable. I hope it may serve as an example to other teachers of English to try their hands at writing creatively in their language they teach.
