Simple Life - My Walden
I begin to live a simple life just because I suddenly find out so many useless stuffs in my house weeks before I have to move out. I was totally controlled by them so as that with so many refuse I couldn‘t walk briskly. I experienced this during last moving time and swore to myself never stuffing things up again. But very instantly I forgot it and piled them like mountains once again.
The life in Walden is only to pursue the most basic living thing. Thoreau had two-year experimental life in the woods in Walden. All in all is just a basic and simple way of Do It Yourself. He even baked bread by very plain flour without anything on a wooden panel above the fire. Kirk Cameron, who acted Mike Silver in Growing Pains, insists on eating his own handmade bread. I just guess this belief of Kirk maybe came from Thoreau. Thoreau‘s way of life can‘t be found in any metropolitan, and obviously the reclusive life in the woods is unbearable for ordinary people. At least, at the moment I can‘t live in the woods as he did. Maybe only the one can make it, either with a pure heart or with a broken heart.
However, the simple-life spirit from Thoreau is what we can follow even in our chaos cities. Simple is not completely cheap while less and small with quality. Drop the extra, while keep the basic. Just live a simple and healthy life then you control the life, not be controlled by it.
