“渐冻人症”与艾滋病、癌症齐名，被列为世界五大绝症之一

先是声音沙哑吐字不清，然后手指无力举不动筷子……身体如同被逐渐“冻”住一样，大脑发出指令，运动神经肌肉却动不了，这就是俗称的“渐冻人”，英国著名科学家斯蒂芬 霍金教授就是位“渐冻人”。目前“渐冻人症”与艾滋病、癌症齐名，被列为世界五大绝症之一。
“渐冻人”由于感觉神经并未受侵犯，不影响患者智力、记忆或感觉。病情从出现症状开始平均寿命在2—5年之间，目前中国约有20万患者。专家指出，目前医学上尚无“解冻”的方法，一旦出现肌肉跳动、萎缩、无力等相关症状，要及时到大医院检查。
6月21日，是“世界渐冻人日”。中国医师协会宣告成立“渐冻人项目管理委员会”，以推动建立全国运动神经元患者可持续救助保障体系，为其提供统一规范的诊治救助服务，使他们能够看得起病、用得起药。
中国医师协会联合相关的科研机构结合渐冻人患者的实际情况，共同研发出专门解决渐冻人对外沟通的电脑看护系统，在本次会上此电脑看护系统首次与大家见面，此系统最大特点就是可以用眼睛来控制我们平常的手控鼠标，从而实现QQ聊天，收发短信，玩游戏，语音指令，写文章等功能，从而使患者解决了与外界沟通的需求，患者能做很多自己想做的事情，生活变得更有意义。
