中国网讯 来自卫生部的消息，针对艾滋病蔓延造成的母婴伤害，2003年在5省（区）8个县市启动了预防艾滋病母婴传播试点工作。近年来，在中央财政经费的支持下，预防艾滋病母婴传播工作覆盖面不断扩大，已逐步扩展到全国1156个县（市、区），受益孕产妇人群明显增加。
截至2009年底，累计为1000万余名孕产妇提供了预防艾滋病母婴传播服务，为发现的艾滋病感染孕产妇及所生儿童提供了免费抗病毒药物应用、安全助产、人工喂养、随访监测等有效的干预服务。
