Xinhua Beijing on Aug. 14 (Xinhua remote Dengyao Min Ruo Yu Li) in Beijing in August hot summer, the Forbidden City have some of the hustle and bustle of tourists depressed, and a group dressed in red, yellow, black and white costumes, the children have dark skin was extremely excited.
They never tired of repeating this kind of "game": from a distance near together toward the photographer shouted loudly in front of the camera, "Eggplant!" "Watermelon!" And then into a slapstick with laughter.
Children happy demeanor attracted many foreign visitors walking the Forbidden City to follow. But they may be hard to imagine that these "little angels" have lost their parents, the elderly grandparents Jiang Cheng's family can not afford to buy a camera.
This 35 age 9 to 16-year-old drug addicts and AIDS orphans from China, one of the hardest hit Zhaojue County, Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in Sichuan Province. They are a national public interest organization in the Liangshan China Red Ribbon Foundation funded the first "AIDS orphans."
Week 4, they ended a three-five days in Beijing and Shanghai China Red Ribbon memorable summer camp. The event is organized by the National Federation of Industry and China Guangcai Foundation co-sponsored, the Chinese Red Ribbon Fund contractor.
Poor
"In Liangshan, drug users are concentrated. Because medical conditions and other factors behind, and many people infected with AIDS was not knowing, it will not go to hospital and eventually died of AIDS in a variety of complications." China Red Ribbon Foundation Vice Secretary-General, Mr David Yip said.
These orphans due to the complexity of family background, be integrated into the Fund's AIDS orphans fund.
Liangshan Yi Autonomous Prefecture in southwestern Sichuan Province, is China's largest Yi neighborhoods. According to Vice Governor Yang Zhaobo introduced in Liangshan Prefecture, at the end of 2009, total reported 18,003 cases of Liangshan HIV infection, accounting for 60% of Sichuan province, which added 5,530 cases in 2009.
Liangshan State AIDS is mainly a result of drug abuse derived. Zhaojue County is a county-level poverty, drug abuse, AIDS, the threat of worse to make the lives of many families.
David Yip, said the Foundation staff visited the remote areas of the Zhaojue County and found a number of extremely poor families meter cabinets, side cabinets empty, even month to eat meat once.
In 2006, the Liangshan Yi Women and Child Development Center opened in Zhaojue County District established four classes of this orphan, and now they're already up to fourth grade.
Fund from September 2009 onwards to provide them with 150 yuan per person per month living allowance, and the class named "Red Ribbon pillars of class." "Financially weak local governments can provide financial assistance to the children is very limited." David Yip said.
The average of these orphans around the age of 13, but because of malnutrition, child significantly shorter than that of some peers. David Yip, said that orphans who are not recipients of the health condition worse.
Tenacious
"Pillars of class" in most of the children by the elderly dependency, some aunts and uncles live together, spend their four years of the class teacher in a color Wu Sha teacher said.
Children little body already assumed the burden of the family, many children will cook and do farm work.
A 14-year-old Yi girls hot wood fire only a few months after the birth parents have left her. This year her 76-year-old grandmother grew up.
"One time, the family off the food, only Grandma. Only to fire 22:00 still to dig potatoes, cook for themselves and their grandmother back to eat, especially brave." Color of a teacher said, "to leave nothing for a time She would rush home, eat only sow grass. "
14-year-old Jill cattle the same day told reporters that his after-school principal is to help the aunt and uncle live cattle grazing. When a reporter asked him if he want to go to college, the shy head of cattle raised on a sudden, without the slightest hesitation replied: "Yes! I want to go to college, find a good job, earn money quickly repay the aunt and uncle."
In contrast, horses are more fortunate than the wooden cow, because his 20-year-old brother who work, often send money to subsidize the lives of he and his grandmother. Every weekend, wooden cow will help Grandma cook. "I do potatoes, rice, mushrooms, bean curd," The 12-year-old boy said proudly.
When asked about the usual wooden entertainment place, he bowed his head, playing with the fingers, whispered: "not afford, mainly to learn."
Hidden
Although the children seemed more cheerful, and very sensible, but sometimes people come from age discrimination to the pressure on them.
"There are other classes of students are not naive joke they have no parents, as I found a quick stop." Color of a teacher said. He mentioned that whenever that happens, the children will feel very frustrated and aggrieved.
Though China has implemented nine-year compulsory education, school-age children attend school free of charge, in Zhaojue County, many orphaned children lack the most basic living costs, will drop out of school at home or work outside the home. Even into the school, a color that teachers were still worried about possible loss of her class.
"For example, a 18-year-old boy class, the results of the third year drop out of school away from home." He said, because children aged orphan class than in the same year were too large, the idea is also rather special, such as working to earn money to go to the outside world.
David Yip, said: "We want to help more orphans of school, prevent them from prematurely into the community and become a burden on society."
In addition, teachers also worried about a color at home for the elderly orphans after the death of the way out. "Well girls, growing up certainly wanted to marry out, I believe that my husband will be kind to them. I am more worried about is the way out after the boys." He said.
