南非遭受癌症威胁

新华网约翰内斯堡8月27日电(记者李建民)众所周知,南非艾滋病问题严重,但癌症给南非民众的威胁同样不可小视。据南非国家癌症登记处公布的最新统计数据,南非癌症患者人数超过40万,占全国人口12.2%。
南非最常见的癌症分别是宫颈癌、乳腺癌以及与艾滋病有直接关系的卡波西氏肉瘤。有专家指出,由于艾滋病的关系,南非以及其他一些非洲国家的卡波西氏肉瘤发病率近年来大幅上升。
南非肿瘤科专家加里·迈克尔告诉新华社记者,不健康的生活方式,比如吸烟和缺乏锻炼,是南非癌症发病率上升的主要原因。但南非艾滋病和结核病的高死亡率使人们忽视了癌症的威胁。
南非开普敦赫鲁特斯库尔医院肿瘤科的扎伊纳布·穆罕默德博士则指出经费方面的问题。他说,由于艾滋病和其他传染性疾病是政府的工作重点,南非的卫生资源大部分已经用于治疗艾滋病和结核病,用于癌症预防的经费一直非常有限。
据穆罕默德博士透露,目前南非癌症患者的数量比2008年增长了9.5%。他希望南非政府利用烟草税中的一部分来资助癌症防治知识的宣传和研究工作,使更多的南非民众远离癌症的威胁。
