钟南山，一个让中国百姓为之感动的名字，一位病人眼中的爱心医生，一位学生眼里的慈爱老师，一位活跃在大众视线中的知识分子。
从２００３年抗击非典，到２００９年奋战甲流，再到２０１１年澄清“阴性艾滋病”疑云，钟南山总是行走在中国医学征途的前沿。作为中国工程院院士、广州医学院第一附属医院广州呼吸疾病研究所所长的钟南山，成为近十几年来推动我国呼吸疾病科研和临床事业走向世界前列的杰出领头人之一。
２００３年抗击非典战斗中，钟南山在科学精神的指引下，和他的研究团队日夜攻关，终于在短时间内摸索出了一套行之有效的救治办法，为广东实现非典死亡率最低、治愈率最高做出了突出贡献。今年年初以来，社会上风传一种叫做“阴性艾滋病”的神秘病毒，引起了部分公众的恐慌，一时流言四起。钟南山迅速组织广州医学院第一附属医院骨干力量进行研究，证实“阴滋病”的不少症状由已知病毒引起，给予公众一个科学的解答，消除了疑似患者的顾虑。
从教几十年，钟南山更是一位桃李满天下、锐意创新的教学名师。钟南山勉励学生，学医不能仅仅为了谋求一个糊口的职业，而应更多地考虑增进人民的健康和福祉。 （据新华社电）
