　　个人认为，奢侈与节俭并存，也是乡土社会消费的一种均衡。比如，一些农民，平时省吃俭用，很节俭，很抠门，但在一些个别消费上则很奢侈，甚至奢侈得不是一般。这关键要看是一次性消费，还是多次消费。若属于一次性消费范畴，则可能存在奢侈大方的行为，但对于多次消费的情况，肯定是节俭的，因为有收入约束限制。而一次性奢侈消费，对农民而言，满足了两方面的需求。一是投资需求。因为农民的奢侈性消费，仔细分析，多是带有投资目的的，比如请客办事，或是花在装饰自己门面方面的消费等，而纯粹的奢侈性消费，则较少。二是消费需求。通过个别奢侈性消费，也是对平时自己节省行为的一种心理补偿。因为一个人长期节俭，必然也是对奢华消费的长期压抑，这客观需要有释放的机会，以此达到一种心理平衡。所以，乡土社会存在的平时节俭与偶尔奢侈的消费行为，其实也是一种均衡。
